Aspiring to a life of quality through artful and masterful care of the world.
Students of Welkin are drawn from around the world to practice a life of learning in a multinational community. We engage complex challenges with ambitious realism. Together with parents, teachers and fellow students, we court opportunities to contribute to and find well-being in the universe of life experience. With fresh eyes, each generation of Welkin scholars refashions the world with skill and receptivity, transforming the legacy of the past into a promise for the future.
Our students are preparing to live in a world that can provide the needs of every individual but also requires something of every person. This world is in constant transition, and the core capacity that each student must develop is adaptability in the face of changing material realities. This can be done either by conforming to the conditions of the environment or bringing creative changes to the environment and knowing when to choose which strategy. Adaptation is the essence of learning.
The primary tool of survival and flourishing is the self. To be fully competent in the present and future world, students academic, personal and social self development is essential. Students at Welkin are equipped to embark on a life long path by which they develop self mastery while remaining responsive to their own mystery.
We believe that care of self and care of the planet go hand in hand. Such a high ambition requires grit and resilience to soberly overcome the real damage and suffering in the world transforming it to conditions of well-being. Joy is achieved while working in companionship with like minded others to cultivate a healthy environment for all.
Life is multiple and variant. The strength of an international school is the diversity it upholds. We are by intention a school with students of diverse academic, economic, geographic and ethnic backgrounds.
Our community gatherings uphold the values represented by various religious or non-religious traditions aspiring for full life and free expression. Along with intellectual, emotional, and social growth we consider spiritual growth critical to the full and ongoing student development as individuals and members of a larger community.
We believe that our environments have a subtle and profound effect on our own well being. What we create, often turns around to create us. We do not deny, but intentionally develop aesthetic sensibility in the belief that beauty and goodness are indicators of quality living.
